Cosmetic Foot Surgery (Footlift): Enhanced Comfort
Cosmetic foot surgery (or footlift) is an innovative procedure offering both aesthetic benefits and lasting relief.
The footlift (or “Loub job”) is an effective aesthetic and functional treatment option for individuals experiencing pain and discomfort from frequent high-heel use or specific cosmetic concerns about their feet. This simple and quick procedure provides immediate results with minimal risks, making everyday activities and wearing high heels more comfortable for many patients.
Dr. Julien Lopez explains everything you need to know about this surgical procedure.
What is a Footlift or “Loub Job”?
The footlift, also known as the “Loub job,” is a medical procedure involving the injection of hyaluronic acid into the foot’s plantar pads. The primary goal is to improve the comfort and aesthetics of feet often strained by repeated high-heel wear.
Are you considering a hyaluronic acid injection in your feet? Dr. Julien Lopez is here to guide you through every step of your care journey.
Problems Addressed by Footlifting
Discover the various issues addressed by footlifting.
Medical Conditions
The primary purpose of the footlift is to alleviate plantar pain caused by the atrophy of the plantar fat pads, often a result of frequent high-heel use. This atrophy exposes the bones, leading to increased discomfort and pain.
Aesthetic Concerns
Issues like corns, calluses, and “eye of the partridge” (hard skin accumulations caused by excessive pressure on the forefoot) can also be addressed through this procedure. By increasing the volume of the foot’s pads, this cosmetic surgery reduces pressure on sensitive areas and enhances the foot’s overall appearance.
Benefits of a Footlift
Pain Relief
Patients experience immediate relief from plantar pain, enabling them to wear high heels more comfortably and frequently.
Aesthetic Improvement
The procedure reduces imperfections like corns and calluses, enhancing the foot’s overall look.
Non-Surgical Procedure
Performed in a clinic setting, the treatment doesn’t require hospitalization, reducing both risks and costs typically associated with surgical interventions.
Immediate Results with Minimal Downtime
Results are visible immediately after the procedure, with very little recovery time required.
What to Expect During a Footlift Session

The footlift takes place in one of the surgeon’s clinics in Nice or Cannes. This procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia. The surgeon begins by applying a local anesthetic, often in the form of a cream or ointment, and then proceeds to inject hyaluronic acid into the foot, specifically targeting painful or high-risk areas of the forefoot. The acid used is often a volumizer, sometimes combined with a local anesthetic to minimize pain during the injection.
The procedure is quick, generally lasting between 10 to 30 minutes.
Post-Procedure Care After Foot Lipofilling
Dr. Julien Lopez provides detailed guidance on post-procedure care following foot lipofilling.
Immediately after the injection, patients can walk, but it’s advisable to avoid wearing high heels for about 3 to 4 days to allow for better healing. Resuming sports activities is generally possible after approximately 5 days. It’s also recommended to avoid humid environments such as swimming pools or saunas for a few days to prevent infections.
Patients may experience some discomfort for a few days following the procedure, along with redness and mild swelling at the injection sites.
The final result is visible after 5 days.
